STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. — Seventeen units were destroyed in a fire Monday evening at a DeKalb County apartment complex.A representative for the DeKalb County Fire Department told Channel 2 that the fire broke out between 6:30 and 7 p.m. on Chatfield Drive in Stone Mountain.A resident who lives on the first floor told Channel 2 he noticed smoke coming from an upper level unit.“I told them ‘Jump; … let’s get out of there,’” said James Perry.Perry said he doesn’t have rental insurance.“We need help,” said Perry. “Everybody got out safe, but we lost everything.”
