PROVIDENCE, RI — A federal wrongful death suit has been filed by the family of a Delaware woman who died in a bizarre accident on Route 95 in Hopkinton in April, when a wheel broke loose from a Hummer driving in the opposite direction and smashed through her windshield.
The lawsuit, filed Dec. 26 in U.S. District Court here, was brought by Andrew P. Letts as representative of the estate of his late mother, Carolyn H. Letts, and as power of attorney for his father, William J. Letts, who was injured in the accident.
Named as defendants are the Connecticut owner and driver of the Hummer, Peter R. Reynolds, and Whaling City Motors, of New London, where the lawsuit says Reynolds bought and serviced his vehicle.
