PHILADELPHIA – A Pennsylvania trial judge on April 12 agreed to reduce a $5 million verdict awarded to the widow of a Jeanes Hospital and Hillcrest Convalescent Home Inc. resident to $2.5 million, saying the ratio of punitive damages to compensatory damages is now more reasonable (Shirley Blango, et al. v. Jeanes Hospital Inc., operating as Jeanes Hospital, et al., No. 4518., Pa. Comm. Pls., Philadelphia Co., Civil Trial Div.; 2011 Phila. Ct. Com. Pl. LEXIS 101; See April 2010, Page 4).
